4th of Holmains

With John 4th, the doors suddenly open wider. We find him beside the River Annan, defending fishing rights. We see his oxen stolen. We find him in courts, in financial trouble, standing surety for other Border men and recovering lands when they fail him. We find him ordered into ward at Dumbarton Castle. We see him arranging property for a son who entered the Church, while another son was being prepared to inherit Holmains.
